SAFE SPACE PROGRAM
The SAFE SPACE program identifies allies in the community who own/manage businesses and public spaces that LGBTQIA* individuals, families and youth can patronize, and not feel that they will be exposed to discrimination, criticism, harassment, or any other emotional or physical harm. Filling out the application and signing the pledge gets your business a sticker and certificate. When you receive your certificate, be sure take a picture with it with all of your employees, as well as another photo of your door with the sticker on it.
Once we receive it, we will add you to our list of SAFE SPACE program participants, as well as spotlighting your business in our emails and social media posts!
If you encounter difficulty in a SAFE SPACE, fill out the Report a SAFE SPACE form and we will contact the business and share your report. We ask that if a business or public spaces receives a report, that they communicate between AVEN and the person filing in order to keep both parties safe from any feelings of harassment.
*The letters LGBTQIA refer to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex, and asexual or allied.
